| Portraits are the soul of a family, like art is the soul of a country. It's the history of your family, your children, your parents and yes your pets. A portrait is a place in time that you can never go back to, but you have the memories in a portrait for a lifetime. How valuable are portraits? After a natural disaster (tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.) strikes someone, the first thing you will see them doing is looking for their photographs, proving again that portraits are priceless.
A common misconception about portraits is they have to be done in the studio. Most of the family group portraits I create are done at the home, at the beach or in a park. Pet and children portraits are usually done in the studio but they can also be done on location. The secrets to a good portrait is the right clothing for good color harmony, the right makeup for women and the right lighting. With the advent of digital imaging programs the possibilities are endless for creative portraiture. The Giclée portrait is printed on watercolor paper and looks like a painting. Under museum lighting conditions the Giclée is reputed to outlast color photographic paper. Recent test results with new ink products for the Giclée portrait could last 150 years.
